Milen Care is a charity based in Batley providing day care services for Asian elders.

We have a vacancy for a clerical assistant to cover maternity leave. The post holder will be responsible for answering telephone calls, responding to queries, drafting minutes, and other general administration duties.

We require someone who has proven experience of a previous administration role, proficient in using MS office, excellent written and verbal communications skills, knowledge of day care services, in particular, in relation to Asian elders, good interpersonal skills and have strong organisational skills

The normal hours of work will be between 9.00 am to 14.30 pm Monday to Thursday. Evening work from time to time will be required.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this job.


To provide Administrative/Clerical support to Milen Care undertaking a wide range of clerical and secretarial duties. The postholder will be responsible to the Manager.


1. 1 To carry out a wide range of office/clerical tasks including filing and maintaining office library, photocopying, operation of fax machine, receipt, distribution and despatch of mail, assisting in the maintaining and re-ordering of supplies and stationery.

2. To act as a first point of contact for all callers, personal or telephone,showing understanding and sensitivity, deal with simple inquiries including those of user members and refer others to the Manager.

3. Assist in the creation and maintenance of client files / invoices and spreadsheets

4. Provide appropriate typing and word processing services / support as required.

5. Assist / take responsibility for online shopping as required.

6. Assist as required in the arranging of meetings, agendas and the circulation of minutes.

7. Take minutes of meetings as and when required, including evening meetings. Evening work from time to time will be required.

8. To maintain petty cash floats and record disbursement as required.

9. Assist in the provision of statistical information from manual or computerised files including the use of spreadsheets where appropriate.

10. Take reasonable care of the health and safety of self, other persons and resources whilst at work.

11. To take on any other duties commensurate with the level of the post and support day care staff where required.

12. The postholders duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with Milen Care's Equality and Diversity Policy.
